Here is a dance course made especially for the home clogger and instructor to be from The Old Time American Clogging and Southern Appalachian Square Dance School in Lake Odessa, MI. Start a group of your own. Get your husband, your kids, grand children, the neighbor kids and their grand-dads together at your house. Build a group of people to have fun and grow together by starting correctly and learning good habits. This is good exercise and therapy for a family. Clogging- America's Freedom Dance, is the 8 week beginner course running over 8 hours or so taught by Bob Warner, a Certified Clogging Instructor. Bob and his wife, Lynda, are the directors and instructors of The THUNDER FLOOR CLOGGERS, home based at the school in west central middle of Michigan. This course goes into depth of and is successful in bringing understanding of how the human body reacts to different phrases in teaching America's traditional dance. Taught is the constant shuffling of the foot that is on the floor. The main characteristic which makes the American Freedom Dance distinctly different from tap, Canadien step, Irish step, modern clogging and percussion. This course includes= 1 instructions on how to use the course, 1 abbreviations of the clogsteps, 5 cue sheets, 1 practice audio, 2 DVDs counted out so you can see where each lesson starts by watching the LED on your player, etc. & a store house of other information for the correct teaching of the dancer. His course is interesting, humorous, and will give you and your students the basis for all you need to become fluent in shuffle, flatfoot and buck. This course is exactly as it is in one of Bob's beginner classroom situation, no different. You will be encouraged, uplifted, scolded and inspired. When you and your students receive your certificates at the end of eight weeks, following your exam(if that is your desire) you will know 35 to 40 steps as seen through the eyes of a beginner using the eight basic movements. This cookbook , part of our effort to raise funds, has been a labor of love and joy. Many of the cloggers have given of their time and energy in order to make this book available for sale. The goal of this book is NOT just to raise money , however. A part of the goal is to express our joy and love of the dance. Within the pages of this book you will find a lighthearted attempt at humor. As Bob would say, “I’m not laughin’ at ya- I’m laughin’ with ya.” That is what we hope we have accomplished in this book. It is NOT intended to offend or make fun of anyone. We have made every effort to make this book mistake free. However, sometimes even the best intentions go astray and mistakes happen. Get a better feel of the rythym. Feel the rythym of the music. Everybody can hear this rhythm when these bass spoons are played. Get everyone in the music quickly. Bob the clogger demonstrates this unique rythym to the delight of all. This rythym is not a rock and roll rythym. A good instruction and practice/drill DVD. Almost 100% of people have never heard or seen anything like this. These huge spoons sound like a horse coming across the dance floor but are not aggravating to the ear, and you can change their pitch and never throw anyone off time. You don't need to play them loud. When there is no bass, playing these bass spoons for dancers dancing to old time country music,for instance, really brings the folks out onto the dance floor. They will have smiles on there faces and spring in their steps. They will dance right in front of you while you play your spoons. Wonderful addition to fiddle/old time and bluegrass music. Produces a full bodied bassy beat, more percussive than a bass guitar and more resonant than a drum.
